Certain loose gems can prove to be very appealing and diamonds are certainly one of them and they can in fact also be found quite easily because virtually every jewelry store will have them. However, if you want to buy loose gems (diamonds) then the situation is not quite as straightforward because not too many people know where to buy diamonds as loose items. It is therefore advisable that you search for some tips and advice on how to buy loose gems and learning about diamonds in particular can be very interesting to learn more about.

Diamond Characteristics

To succeed with buying loose gems you need to start off by understanding the essentials of diamond characteristics including the diamond's cut clarity, color and carat. Next, you need to learn about the distribution system through which diamonds are sold in loose form. Of course, the optimum solution to buying loose gems is to buy them from their source which means purchasing them from the mines; or, failing that you can try buying them from cutters. Lastly, of course you might have to contact the manufacturer from whom you can then buy loose gems at a relatively affordable cost.

If however you end up buy loose gems from the dealers you will have very slim chances of getting them for a good price though it would still mean getting them cheaper than from the jewelry store. Next, when you plan on buy loose gems (diamonds) you will need to understand that diamonds are generally commoditized which means that the loose diamonds will now have become a commodity with each diamond having similar qualities irrespective of from where they (diamonds) were sourced. This in turn means that diamonds will be diamonds and you will then have to look at the price in order to decide whether to buy loose gems (diamonds) or not.

It is of course a good idea when you plan on buying loose gems (diamonds) that you try and achieve an ideal balance between price and quality. In addition, there are several distributions channels that sell loose diamond gems and each has its plus and minus points and a few will be practical for you while others might not be so practical. It is also necessary to look at the diamond grading reports before you buy loose gems as this will help ensure that you can strike the right balance between price and quality.

Gems too make excellent choice for use as birthstones and in fact every month in a calendar year has an associated gem. This means that you can use particular such items for a birthday or to commemorate other important dates.

Diamonds are certainly every woman's best friends and so it pays to consider buying diamonds in the form of loose precious gems. (...)

Diamonds are certainly every woman's best friends and so it pays to consider buying diamonds in the form of loose precious gems. These loose precious gems will dazzle and prove to be most lustrous and can easily be used in the embellishment of different items of fine jewelry including the ubiquitous engagement ring as too the excellent jewelry watch. However, not many people will have seen a collection of diamonds in the form of loose precious gems because it is more usual to see a diamond that has been set and mounted and which is sold as separate jewelry item.

Costly Items

Of course, diamonds even in the form of loose precious gems will certainly end up costing you a lot of money though they are also much in demand despite their costly nature. However, many people are loathe spending so much money on diamonds and so will look for other less expensive loose precious gems including the excellent emeralds.

What many people fail to realize that diamonds, even when they are bought as loose precious gems, can help you save considerable amount of money and so they can also open doors to many people that have set their hearts on owning these rocks of brilliance and luster. It may come as a big surprise but diamonds when bought as loose precious gems can prove to be the best option when it concerns purchasing your diamonds.

These loose precious gems, when acquired will provide you with a number of advantages as compared to simply buying a diamond jewelry item or a watch with diamonds in them or any other piece of fine jewelry for that matter. First off, you get your diamonds for less cost because obviously there is no mounting cost to pay. Second off, it is easier to evaluate the diamond's quality when you buy it in the form of loose precious gems because there are no settings which can be used to conceal flaws in the diamond.

To purchase diamonds as loose precious gems you need to only look for quality and also their value and of course this means checking for their cut, clarity and color as well as carat. Once you buy your diamond loose precious gems you can then have the gems set according to your taste and preferences.

Cubic Zirconia is an excellent option that is worth checking out whenever you plan on buying loose gems. Though it is synthetic and man-made it can also be found in a natural state and there are also sufficient quantities of it available to ensure that costs are reasonable and demand can always be met.

For an average shopper that is looking for loose gems for sale there is a lot to learn, especially as there is much misinformation being circulated in the market and so it always pays to be extra careful about where and from whom you buy loose gems for sale. The sad truth however is that even some of the more reputed jewelers will refrain from telling you the absolute truth about their loose gems on account of the fact that they buy the gems from different retailers and so the origins of the loose gems for sale are often blurred by the passage of time.

Ask Questions

The best way of ensuring that loose gems for sale are indeed genuine is to be sure of asking questions of the retailer or seller. This habit of asking questions is the first step in finding the right loose gems for sale though many buyers fail to take this step and the jewelers too often assume that the buyer knows everything and so will not proffer any information.

When looking for genuine loose gems for sale you need to also be aware of the fact that certain gems are called by their type in order to enhance the appeal of those gems and so when you hear the term 'sapphire-colored' you might be confused though in reality this term alludes to a gem classification. It is therefore recommended when you find that loose gems for sale have this term attached that you enquire as to whether the loose gems are genuine or just have been given a colloquial name.

True loose gems for sale are those that will not be treated and which are natural and so when you come across a ruby or an emerald these should be referred to as rubies and emeralds and must not come with any qualifiers. A qualified name would imply that the gem in question is not natural and so should also be more inexpensive; so, watch out for terms such as processed, enhanced and stabilized – all of which imply that the loose gems for sale have been treated.

Loose precious gems can prove to be stunning and so you need to choose them ahead of other gem types – provided you can afford the cost price. These loose gems (and, especially diamonds) can be used to enhance your appearance and they can also fit well in various different kinds of jewelry pieces and so are well worth paying a little extra for.

Many of us have heard a lot of scary stories about getting scammed online that we often think twice about buying things from electronic stores. Although most of these stories are true, not all people who have been scammed online totally lost their money. Some of these people were actually able to recover their hard earned money by filing complaints against the fraudulent merchants. The whole process takes time and it could be quite stressful on your part but eventually, you will recover your money.

Yes, the idea that you can actually recover your money after being scammed online does not really inspire much confidence to make large purchases online again but then again, lightning rarely strike in the same place twice. This means that if you have been scammed by one online merchant on some wholesale loose gems transaction that does not mean that the next time you buy wholesale loose gems online, you will get scammed again. You need to understand that not all online merchants that are offering wholesale loose gems are crook. In fact, most of these merchants that are offering loose gems for sale online are reliable. You just have to know how to separate the crooks from the good ones.

Shopping For Wholesale Loose Gems Online

Unlike when you go shopping for wholesale loose gems in a local jewelry shop where you can touch and see the loose gems outright, you cannot physically inspect the loose gems being offered online. When you go to online wholesale loose gems merchant all you get to see are pictures of the gems, their descriptions and their price. This situation can be quite tricky especially if you are still new to the business of buying wholesale loose gems. To make sure that you do not end up with some poor quality gemstones, you should only shop on reliable online stores. Online stores that have been selling wholesale loose gems for more than five years are usually reliable. These kinds of stores have been around for quite sometime and they have built a good reputation over time. Since good reputation is essential when you sell wholesale loose gems online, these merchants will not try to scam you. They know that if you are satisfied with their service, you will come back again and they get more business from you.

Now, just because you are shopping on reputation websites that does not mean that you will not take precautions when it comes to your money. To make sure that you can recover your money easily in case the transaction goes bad, do not pay the merchant in cash. Instead, use your credits cards or an online payment system to pay for your purchases.

Are you fond of collecting loose gemstones? (...)

Are you fond of collecting loose gemstones? If you have collected loose gemstones over the years or if you have just stumbled on a bargain for wholesale loose gems, you can convert these gemstones into cash but selling them online. The good thing about selling things online is that you do not have to pay for expensive overhead cost to be able to display your products. With minimal overhead cost, you can sell your goods online for lower prices and still earn reasonable profits.

No, you do not need to set up your own website to sell loose gemstones online. Remember that setting up your own website takes time and web hosting fees can be quite expensive. Instead of setting up your own website and put your loose gemstones for sale online, you can just use one of those auction sites that allows you to sell your products for just a small commission. The good thing about selling loose gemstones in these auction sites is that you do not need to exert a lot of efforts, not to mention cost, in driving traffic to the site. A lot of people visit these auction sites daily so there is a big possibility that some customers will stumble into your loose gemstones. The more people who get to see your loose gemstones, the better chances you have of generating a sale. Yes, it will probably take a few days or even weeks before you will be able to sell all your loose gemstones, but if reply promptly to all inquiries, you will eventually gain some loyal clients.

Going Into Business

Not all people who venture into selling loose gemstones online made it big. In fact, millions of online merchants never made it past their first month of business. However, do not be discouraged. Despite the fact that only few online merchants survived and made it big, there is still a good chance that you will eventually earn enough money selling loose gems online to keep you and your family comfortable. The key here is to know your target market and then aggressively go after your market. It is not enough to just let the auction site do the marketing for you. If you want to sell your products, you need to help the auction sire promote your products.

Aside from finding your market, you also need to establish a steady supply of gemstones. Remember that customers want to get their orders at once and if you cannot deliver what you promised to your customers, you lose a lot of opportunities.

Loose gems are generally easy to care for compared to those elaborately designed jewelries. In fact, you need not go through all the trouble of polishing your loose gems ever so often. Nevertheless, since loose gemstones do gather dust and they may suffer from minor blemishes as time passes by, you should know how to take care of your loose gems and keep them on top quality. To help you care and store your gems, here are important tips for you.

Cleaning Your Loose Gems

Different types of stones have different degree of hardness. Experts rank stones according to level of hardness with level 5 being the hardest the most durable. If you are not familiar with these levels of hardness, you need to do some research in this area before you attempt at cleaning your loose gems. Why? Knowing the degree of hardness of the stones will give you an idea of how fragile the stones are and what sorts of soaps should you use to clean them with. For instance, diamonds are classified as level 5 when it comes to hardness so you can use any types of washing detergents or soaps to clean them up. The abrasive texture of laundry or washing soap will not have any effect on the surface of the diamond. Bear in mind that diamonds are very tough stones. You cannot even chip it easily even if you want to.

On the other hand, if you have a collection of loose gems with hardness of 4 and below, you should not use laundry or washing them up. Stones like opal have sensitive surfaces so you need to make sure that you do not use anything abrasive when you clean them. Moreover, gems like pearls are very sensitive to chemicals so you should never use soap or any chemicals for that matter when you clean them. Instead of using soap to clean your pearls, you simply use lukewarm water. Remember that once the surface of a loose gem gets scratched, you can never restore it to its former flawless glory. The worst part of it is that once a loose gem is scratched, its market value drastically goes down.

Storing Your Loose Gems

After cleaning your loose gems, dry them thoroughly with the use of cotton clothe or tissue paper. Once the stones are dry, you may place them inside a pouch made of soft materials and then store it inside your safe.

Maybe you are thinking of proposing to your girlfriend or you just want to do something special for her, but either way, getting her a rare gem ring is something that she is never going to forget. (...)

Maybe you are thinking of proposing to your girlfriend or you just want to do something special for her, but either way, getting her a rare gem ring is something that she is never going to forget. Of course it is the diamond that is typically put in a ring, but if you want to do something unique and really surprise her, getting a rare gem ring may be the perfect idea.

Getting Started

So if you would like to get your lucky lady a rare gem ring, the first thing that you are going to have to do is find some rare gems for sale. There are some great companies out there that you can turn to for this, just make sure that you do a bit of background research on any company before deciding whether or not you want to buy from them.

Gem Rock Auctions, Rare Colored Diamonds, and D&J Rare Gems, these are all great companies that offer rare gems online and which are definitely going to be worth you checking out.

Now one you have gotten to know a bit more about a company of these companies, you are going to want to start buying. Make sure that you get a certificate of authenticity before agreeing to buy any rare gem ring, so that you can be sure that you are going to be getting your money's worth, and nothing but.

Since you have done your research on a company first and done your best to make sure that you are only dealing with the most reputable service, at the same time you can never be absolutely sure until you get this certificate. This is your proof that the gems you are buying are completely real, and you must hold on to this certificate for as long as you have the gems.

If you ever decide to sell these gems to anyone else, you are going to have to give them the certificate.

Now when you are shopping for a rare gem ring, make sure that you choose the right setting, an issue that you would have to be concerned with no matter what type of ring you were going for. The setting of a ring is the characteristic that is going to have the most impact, so of course you are going to want to make sure that it is pleasing to the eye when you are deciding on a ring setting.

If you have a passion for precious gems and stones, becoming a rare gem investor just may be the perfect career move for you. (...)

If you have a passion for precious gems and stones, becoming a rare gem investor just may be the perfect career move for you. There are so many interesting, fun things to learn about the rare gem ring and other pieces of rare gem jewelry, and this is one career that you will never get bored with.

There are a few issues that you are going to have to learn more about, and topics that you are going to need to have covered however, before you can go through and become a successful rare gem investor.

Tips for Buying

One of the most major tasks that you are going to have to handle as a rare gem investor is the actual purchasing of the gems. There are a few tips in particular that you are going to want to keep in mind and which will help you make the right decision every time. For one, you want to only buy the very best gems and stones that you can find, and never settle for second best.

You want to make sure that you like the color, clarity, size and cut of a ring, all of the most important characteristics.

You should never buy any stones that are encased in plastic, so remember this when you are a rare gem investor. This is because you have to be able to check the stones out and look at them under magnification before purchasing, something that you will not be able to do properly if the stone is in plastic.

Some sellers purposely do this when they know that the stone is not of good quality and yet they are trying to sell it off for the highest market price.

You want to deal with only the best of the best, and so as a rare gem investor you want to make sure that you are only doing business with the best gemologists around. Take some time to learn about the different companies that are out there and find out a bit about each of them such as how long they have been in business, who they have employed at the company, what sort of selection of rare gems they have to offer, and so on.

These are all very important tips that are going to come in handy once you have gotten knee deep into your career and need to get started with the purchasing and selling of the stones.

When it comes to deciding which gem is in fact the most rare gem the diamond industry leads in the chorus of voices claiming that their gems are indeed the ones that are the most rare gems. Though many would argue that diamonds are found in so many quantities that they will not qualify as being the most rare gem there are nevertheless certain types of diamonds that are very scarce and so can qualify as being the most rare gem.

Not Necessarily The Largest

The most rare gem need not necessarily be the one that is the largest in size even though such gems will generally be very scarce in quantity. However, what helps experts decide as to which the most rare gem is the kind of the gem and in particular kind of diamond – since diamonds are often touted as being the most rare gems.

Diamonds that are of different colors including blue and pink and yellow and green are very rare though to be called the most rare gem you will need to consider only the red diamond as being worthy contender. The plain truth is that there are at present no more than twenty to thirty such diamonds on this planet though many of these are no more than half a carat.

To judge whether the red diamond is truly the most rare gem you need only look at what price such diamonds fetch. In the year 1989, a pink diamond of 7.27 carats fetched an astronomical price of one hundred and twenty-seven thousand dollars which was a record that was later (in the year 1987) shattered when the 0.95 ct. Hancock Red diamond fetched an even more astronomical price of nine hundred and twenty-six thousand dollars per carat.

This record was only recently shattered in November of 2007 when at an auction at Christie's in the Swiss city of Geneva a purple-red ring of 2.26 carat fetched approximately 2.6 million dollars or a price of 1.15 million dollars for a single carat. In terms of size, the most rare gem, a 5.11 ct. red diamond called the Moussaieff Red Diamond is without a doubt unbeatable.

Becoming a rare gem investor can help you become rich provided you know how to locate rare gems at low costs and then sell them at a higher cost. It also means know how to find a ready clientele for your rare gems and to understand that these gems generally will never depreciate and so will always fetch a good price.
